The Rise | How to Grow Your Business to Multiple or Mid Six Figures

How to Generate Multiple Six-Figures in Your Coaching or Consulting Business

Hey Rock Star!

Today I wanted to check in with you and let you know about a new series I’m going to be releasing here. I’m going to be sharing with you the six step formula that I used myself and that I share with my coaching clients that helped me go from generating $30k a year before expenses (and by the way I was working pretty hard to do that)…

…to generating $30,000 months….even six-figure and multiple six-figure sales months. Pretty crazy really.

It’s totally possible. Many time when people come to work with me and my coaching programs, you already have a business, and you have clients which is great!

By the way, let me take a moment to say congratulations on all you’ve created, because it’s really not easy to do.

The thing is that it can feel hard to get up off of that base level of income & business… where you have one-on-one clients and you can’t figure out how to grow anymore without working more hours.

And odds are you don’t want to keep adding hours to your day with more and more private coaching or consulting clients.

It’s great to enjoy $8k, 10k, and $15k revenue months, AMAZING really, but now you might be ready to make that not just repeatable, but a number of jump off of into $20 and $30K months or much more!

If so, this is for you!

Here are the six steps I’m going to walk you through inside of the Rise Formula.

First we’re going to talk about how to upgrade your brand in order to up level your income.

This is a really important step and I don’t mean that you need to spend tens of thousands of dollars to re-brand your business. That’s the good news.

This is an however, an important step that I have all my clients do at least once a year. Because as you’re growing and up leveling we want to make sure that your brand is pointing forward to where you’re heading next (not left behind showing people where you just were).

So first we’re going to give your brand a boost.

A high-converting talk is something you can use online and off, and can repurpose across multiple platforms to give you a consistent and high-converting message.

Often times it’s very small shifts to the structure of your talk that can make a really big difference in your impact and ability to attract new clients.

Your talk is the one thing you need to convert clients without having to resort to an endless stream of strategy sessions. And while you’re growing this is going to be super helpful.

When you have your Rockin Talk ready it’s time to really look at how to scale your income without scaling your hours.

So this is what we’ll talk about the best ways for you to grow your revenue, and the potential adjustments to the structure your programs for maximum impact and more leverage.

It’s important to serve your clients in a really big way, and at the same time, we want to make sure you’re not working more and more more more hours.

We want to add multiple six-figures to your business without blowing up your private life. We want you to have room for your spiritual life, family, friends, philanthropy, and all the things you love to do.

So we want to keep you highly visible throughout the year, but we want to do that in a way where we leverage one rockin talk, and repurpose it across multiple platforms.

This is where we really want to customize strategies for you based on what lights you up, what your strengths are, and what your lifestyle is like.

I’m a mom so I work from home. I do not travel a lot. I do not spend my life hob-nobbing from event to event. I speak at just a few events each year. I use online platforms to keep me visible, and I work mostly part-time, from home.

And I have clients who love to travel! And that great too. There’s no wrong or right. We just want to customize your plan and the platforms that you are going to use so that it will best suit your personality and your lifestyle.

We want you to be surrounded with support. If you’re trying doing this all by yourself… honestly that’s going to put a cap on your income.

If you don’t have the right level of team support and strategy underneath, lifting you and your business up, it’s just too hard to scale.

So we want to make sure that you have the right systems to make your team communication & project man

Big leaps in life can feel scary, and that’s why support is so important to have support, and have someone on your side who is calling you up to your highest self. Encourage yourself. Fill your mind with positive voices. And surround yourself with people who believe in your vision.

You’ve got this!

Its that I generally have no concept of what’s possible.

Meaning MUCH MORE is possible than
the ideas & goals we generally limit ourselves to.

In the meantime… watch this 77 year old woman body building,
& you’ll likely begin expanding right NOW!

Share your thoughts below… where do you limit yourself? And what’s next for you if there were no limits?

Crazy Like Conan

There’s something you might not know about me….

I know you’re thinking, “Kristin, we already know you’re crazy, we’ve seen your videos!” but that’s not what I’m talking about.

At night, I often to listen to comedy podcasts.

Not “comedy podcasts” like they are telling jokes (though they are funny), but more like podcasts where comedians talk about being comedians…..

the business, the life, and how they created success.

A comedian’s life feels strangely similar to mine.

They are as funny as I aspire to be someday….
they learn how to improvise and say YES…

they take risks for their career

and have to step into the public spotlight in order to do what they love.

The risks they take… well, they are much like ours.

You’ve got to put yourself out there.

Step into the spotlight and move people.
And to be highly successful as a coach, consultant, author or speaker, there is a public element to it all….

a willingness to be seen and to risk success or failure publicly.

Its all a little nutty, and yet there is an AMAZING payoff. Nothing beats the feeling of joy that overcomes you when you inspire people, move them into action, and change lives.

But I digress….

One of the common threads on the comedy podcast I listen to is this idea that people who won’t go to any length to go for their dream, often are not successful.

i.e. “I’ll give this 6 months… and if I don’t make it, I’m leaving Hollywood and going back home”

Generally speaking, if you’re planning your escape, you can save yourself some time, and just say goodbye now.

And those who will live and die for their craft, who’ll do it for free.

The guys who (while trying to make it in their 20’s) in their SPARE TIME host FAKE talk shows in their living room to amuse themselves on a Friday night….

They end up being comdey superstars
(and former roommates) Conan O Brien and Jeff Garlin.
Yes that’s a true story.

You’ll also notice that successful people hang out with other successful people. The number of famous people who were roommates with other famous people BEFORE they were famous will astound you.

Imagine if Conan’s roommate wasn’t Jeff Garlin, but some naysayer telling him to go out to the dance clubs on Friday night… and stop fooling himself with the idea that he’s going to be a talk show host?

Now in many ways, I’m not the biggest risk taker you’re going to meet.

But I have learned trial and error what works and what it takes to get where I want to go.

And I know this…. if you love helping people enough, love your message enough, and want to make an impact enough, you’ll find a way.

Here at SpeakServeGrow we say OVER, UNDER, OR THROUGH! 🙂

But I didn’t used to be so bold in my business.

Before…. when I was still kind of broke, I used to refuse to travel at all.

Then I realized it was holding me back… I mean really there some things you NEED to do to be successful.

And I started traveling several times a year. I don’t spend my life on the road, but I let travel into the mix… and frankly it felt like a pretty big deal.

Some travel I do is for my own training (just like those of you coming to The Rise) and some is for visibility (like when I sponsor & speak at events).

Either way, it was a stretch for me at first to invest the time and money to leave home, and yet stretching and being willing to do what it takes…

And its one of the things that caused me to catapult my business into multiple six figures in 2 years. Direct link.

Investing in coaching.

Speaking to Groups.

Hosting Your Own Workshop or Event.

I could go on…

All of these things require you to go out…beyond what the average person will do.

When you go there. When you go all in for your business, all in with your message, all in to get the training, support, and experiences you need to transform your life… and then others…

It is all there waiting for you. The question is…. will you let your sanity take over? Keep you at home? Keep you limited? Keep you “safe”?

Or will you rise above the rest, and join the crazy ones?

Here’s To The Crazy Ones. The misfits. The rebels.
The trouble-makers. The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They’re not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status-quo.

You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify, or vilify them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things.

They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world – are the ones who DO!”

My Sneaky Little Money Maker: One Talk. One Program. Massive Momentum.

Massive Momentum(1)

Here’s The Deal:

Math isn’t my strongest suit, but in business you’ve got to look at the numbers.
But one day I looked at a few numbers revealed a story… a story I knew I had to share with you.

Download the Teach & Preach Pathway to Profits Guide if you want to see how it works right away.

The Case Study: How a can one little program (which only generated $6k the first time I offered it) end up creating Multiple Six-Figures?Let me share the story with you…

My first program was Command Any Room. CommandAnyRoomFinalBOX
I sold 20 people into the program at $300 a person,
and it generated just $6,000.00.

Woopee! You might be thinking. (it’s not the biggest number in the world, I get it.  😉

But at the time, I was actually thrilled!
My goal was to enroll 10 people, so 20 was pretty durn exciting to me!

But I’d have been MORE pleased if I knew what I had REALLY done.

Here’s why….I delivered my talk in person at a few events, and online in a few webinars during the year. So I had one talk and one program to focus on. (This is a strategy many of my clients use too to maximize your time, while generating massive sales.)So essentially, Command Any Room in its first year was the MAGNET that
drew in $160,000.00 to the business through direct sales,
and the residual sales from people who purchased it and decided to keep working with me at a higher level.
We’re going to IGNORE new people coming in to the program,
new people doing VIP Days and Coaching,
we’re ignoring all new sales for a moment.

Without adding in anyone new, just the initial people that went
through the program the first year

the $160,000.00 number turns into $235,000.00 a year later.

So that initial $6,000.00 might not seem like a mind-bending number.
But its the year long plan to profit, and the way your program funnels people into your business that’s so exciting!

Your first product doesn’t have to be a big production in order to be a long-term money-making success. Often times, the more you complicate it, the longer it takes to get to market. So ask yourself what is the best version I can create that WILL get done.

I waited longer than I needed to, to create my own signature training series. And you will likely want to do the same too!. So please don’t wait to launch your first (or next) product or you’re missing a big lead-generator & profit center for your business.

I want you to create an achievable success, and profitable one too! (even if the first numbers aren’t huge at first) If you want to lead a workshop in person, you can host it in your house, or in a conference room in an office space. If you want to lead online classes, do it in the way that works for you. Use a platform you like & will use. I started with Instant Teleseminar. Zoom is also good when you’re just starting out.

The point is that you don’t want to keep everything simple enough that you can keep moving forward. And you don’t need to throw a bunch of money at this project either. Hop on your computer. Hit record. Teach for an hour. There’s module one! 🙂

Once you’ve created your core, entry-level, signature product, learn how to leverage it into multiple six figures for your business… DON’T toss it to the side and create a new one. (many people do this and it’s a mistake) Maximize the one program you’ve already got. I recommend my clients work with me for a least a year, before trying to add a new (entry level) product or program into their offers.

It’s a lot easier to point your marketing efforts towards one entry place, and you’ll find your results will show it!

You’re likely sensing a theme here. 😉 I’m a big fan of keeping things as simple and streamlined as possible. We want to build one program, and one talk that moves people up into that program!

Delivering my talk online and off has always been my #1 strategy for business building (while making a difference) and it can be for you too!

Sooo consider this my confession cuz I messed up

First, watch at your own risk! The video below is terrible for several reason.

  1. I’m hiding under an umbrella at Cannon Beach because it was super windy. (you’ll hear it)
  2. I apparently don’t know how to hold a camera still (sorry!)
  3. And frankly I’m looking pretty disheveled in no makeup and a wrinkled white tee.
But I’m guessing you can handle it. 🙂
I really wanted to fess up to you about how I messed up, what I learned,
and I have a very special message for YOU.
But before you watch….Here are a few thoughts BEYOND what I share in the video:
1. Fall down seven times, get up eight.
Don’t be fooled by people selling you ONLY glamour, glitz, smoke, and mirrors.
There are shortcuts, simple strategies that are highly effective, and better paths to take…
all that’s true.
But I’ll make you a promise…. there will still be times when you’ll get knocked on your booty
on your journey, and its the ones who get up, and get back in the ring that succeed.

2. Define success on your own terms.
Full Time? Part Time? Six Figures? Multiples? Seven?
Want to travel? Or maybe make money in your PJ’s at home?
There’s not just one way to rock what you’ve got.
Be sure you’re following YOUR dream, not someone else’s.
Be sure you’re honoring YOUR values.
Be sure you’re building the business and the income that rocks YOUR world.
3. There is no work-life balance, just decision.
Work-life balance is a lie. Its really just about choosing how you want to spend your time.
But if you want to keep a part-time schedule and
AVOID get a 7-day migraine like I did,
here are a few tips to help you along the way.
>> Keep a structured work, home, and play schedule– post it, make it public to your family & support team, and honor it
>> Schedule all your major to-do’s on your calendar– even things like “shooting a video”, LUNCH BREAK, writing copy, & quiet reading time.
>> Flex your schedule if you need to accommodate a big project or business building opportunity, but ALWAYS have a drop dead date, so that you know exactly when you’ll return to your normal schedule.
Now watch the video for a more personal share about
what happened to me, and why its deeply connected
to my thoughts about YOU.

I already know you’re great at what you do. That’s a given.
But sometimes…. its not quite coming across as fully as it needs to.

Here are a few phrases you might hear, when you’re not quite rockin your expert status….

Do you have any references?
Can I call a former client?
How do I know this will work?
Why don’t you tell me why I should hire you as a coach?

These are all signs that you’ve lost the full power of your expert status.

Watch this quick training video to learn the 5 KEYS to ROCKIN YOUR EXPERT STATUS!

(p.s. be sure you watch tip #5 because there’s an extra hot tip in there for you that will help you start owning your brand in a bigger way.)

I like to admit it when I make mistakes. And let’s face it, I’m an imperfect person. There are few things that were said to me early on in my career, that I REALLY thought were baloney– when I started my business, that I soon learned were true once I started rocking bigger revenue months, still working part time.

1. Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable:

My first speaking mentor, Eric, use to say this to me and it would really irk me.

“GRRRRrrrrrrr. What’s THAT’s supposed to mean???” I’d think to myself.

“What are we all supposed to be scared all the time? How’s that going to help?

When I took my business from sputtering… to a multiple six-figure sensation working part-time, I had to get comfortable being uncomfortable. Now today– I’ll tell you that being TERRIFIED is not good. Not good for your body, your mind or your spirit. But being nervous and stretching past what’s normal for you, can be an AMAZING thing for you, and your business.

That stretch can help create a new reality… a new set of rules, and new results too.

In the beginning a $3K month part-time was normal.
Now over $30K+ months are normal. Even $30K hours are possible!
And that leap required me to do things beyond my comfort zone.

He was right. (sigh)

A Few Ideas for Worthwhile Stretches That Might Feel Uncomfortable:

  • Raise Your Rates
  • Add a Higher Level Offer
  • Launch a New Program
  • Sell One to MANY & Add more Leverage
  • Seek Out Higher Level Partners
  • Host Your Own Event
  • Generate the Same Income Working Fewer Days!

Find out what happens, when you keep inching the bar a little higher to the place where you’re pretty uncomfy, but still functional….

That place of STREEETCH is where the magic leaps forward happen!

2. People Can Afford Anything They Decide They Want.

I was SURE this was NOT true. Sooooooooo SURE!

I used to jump in the pity pot with people when they said they couldn’t afford a program. I used to feel sorry for them. Then inevitably I’d see them investing the amount of money they need to grow their business, in something else they didn’t need so much.

Hmm then I just felt sad for them. And I knew I had let them off the hook, and let them down.

Things People Magically Find Money For When They Say No To Your Program:

  • Shoes
  • Trips/Vacation/Adventures
  • Clothes
  • Websites
  • Famous Names & Brands
  • Fancy Cars
  • Any thing they are excited about

Realize that if you can help someone move out of a problem, and finally achieve something they’ve always wanted to, that its your job to challenge them to create the funds.

If they want it badly enough, they will find the money to invest.

So always hold space for people to step up
into a bigger version of themselves

Not sure that’s true?

Start tracking the people who say no, and watch what the spend money on next. Maybe even watch yourself.

Self test:

Will you buy a $50k car, but think longer about a $25k investment in your business that can actually bring money BACK to your bank account?
Would you say no to a $15K investment, but possibly find yourself saying yes to three $5K investments?

3. Make Decisions Based on Where You’re Going, Not Where You Are:

Oh boy this was another toughy!

A coach once said this to me, as I was considering their coaching program, and I claimed I couldn’t afford it.

(This was Kendall Summerhawk’s sweet husband by the way who said this to me, and I later told him this story when we met at an Ali Brown gathering in Arizona)

At the time, part of me knew what he was saying was likely true, and yet the fear it brought up for me caused me to bristle and think “yeah nice pitch to get me to buy your coaching”.

But as I grew, I’m came to know it as an unavoidable truth.

Sometimes you need to let go of something old that’s not working,
to make room for something new, that can take you where you want to go NEXT.

Here are some things you might want to add as you step into a bigger version of yourself:

  • A new level of mentorship and support to get you where you want to go
  • A few more hours of support from your assistant
  • Extra help around the house so you focus on your strengths
  • Bigger or more “high visibility” speaking gigs

My private clients often ask, “how did you grow so fast, part-time?” And the truth is that in addition to having a great strategy, I’ve brought a willing spirit.

So willing, I’ll even admit it when I get it wrong.

I hope that sharing this tips help you learn these important lessons faster…. so that you too can catapult your business into multiple six figures and beyond!

Your Turn! What are some important lessons you’ve learned?  Let me know in the comments below and be sure to share with your social media friends too 🙂
